During Spanish domination, the small village started to depopulate because of continuous raids and plagues, only in 1700 was evenutally repopulated. The town of Arzachena was founded by a group of priests and developed around the first church of Santa Maria Maggiore and Santa Maria della Neve (Patron of Arzachena).
Arzachena is known throughout the world for the beauty of its beaches: rocky coves enclosed by sinuous bays, sculpted by the wind, which seem to hug the coast and that, along with the white sand and clear sea, form a painting able to charm the tourist. If you like the sea, visit the beach of Cannigione.
